“Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”
GENESIS 3:16b
Have you ever wondered …
… is patriarchy a result of sin, or God’s “divine design”?
… does the Bible teach that women secretly want to take power away from men?
… is there really a battle of the sexes, and if so, who’s winning?
… this can’t really be what God wanted … can it?
When sin entered the world, God told Eve that male dominance and female subordination were going to be a symptoms of humanity’s sin-disease. And yet, many in the church believe that gender hierarchy is a blessing, not a curse. How do we think honestly and biblically about the world’s oldest form of empire - patriarchy?
Join Hayley Rose (M.A. NCC LPC) and Rachel Darnall (M.A. Theological Studies) as we explore the causes, effects and cure for gender hierarchy in eight video episodes covering areas including:
Moral responsibility
Work and compensation
Reproduction and Parenthood
Civic Life
Education
Marriage
Sexual Agency
Participants will learn the surprising truth about why patriarchy happens, how it’s developed and mutated throughout history, and how Christians can honor God’s original plan for gender equality and co-rule while living in “a man’s world.”
